Common questions
How do I compress a photo to 200 KB?
Switch to size mode and type 200. The quality is worked out for you: a binary search walks the values until the file fits.
Is it really lossless?
For PNG, yes — the pixels stay untouched and only the file gets squeezed. JPG always loses something, but at 80–85% you cannot see it, and the file ends up several times lighter.
What quality should I use?
Start at 80% for photos. Below 60% you start seeing blocks in skies, gradients and around lettering.
How big a file can I put in?
Up to 100 MB on a computer, up to 25 MB on a phone. The limit is really about how much memory the browser will hand over.
