Common questions
How do I capture a dropdown that closes?
Set a delay of 3–5 seconds. The countdown starts after you pick the window, so you can go back, open the menu, and the shot takes itself.
Why does the button not work on a phone?
Because only a desktop browser can capture the screen: phones and tablets have no such capability at all, and that is a limit of the browsers themselves rather than of this site. Take a screenshot with the device — usually the power and volume buttons — and bring the file to any tool: compress, crop, extract text.
PNG or JPG?
PNG. A screenshot is small text and hard edges, and those are exactly what JPG smears. Reach for JPG only when the screen is showing a photo and the file comes out too heavy.
How is this better than Print Screen?
It is not, if Print Screen works for you. What is handier here: the shot is already a file in the format you want, with no pasting into an editor, and you can crop or compress it in the next tool straight away.
Does the shot go anywhere?
No. The frame is taken from the browser's own stream and stays in the tab; nothing is uploaded.
Why does the browser ask for permission?
Otherwise any site could peek at your screen. The browser itself shows the picker, and we only ever see what you point it at.
